2017 Africa Oil Week: Day 2 Review

Dreg Waters Petroleum and Logistics participation at the 24th Africa Oil Week continued today. It was day filled with a lot of proactive interactions on the progress of the oil and gas industry across Africa.

24th Africa Oil Week | Dreg Waters Petroleum and LogisticsPade Durotoye, CEO Oando Energy Resources, had a presentation on the Evolving Deepwater Frontiers in Sub-saharan Africa. He noted that the deep water province is what has helped Nigeria to survive despite the pipeline insecurity issues. He mentioned that Oando is playing a significant role, being the largest indigenous oil and gas producer in Nigeria.

Also present in one of the sessions today was  Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, the Nigerian Minister of State for Petroleum, who came alongside other ministers from Ghana, Cote d’Ivoire, Mali, and Namibia.

Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, when asked Why is Nigeria the place for energy Investment at the moment, responded that Nigeria is blessed with very vast resources in terms of oil viability yet untapped.

24th Africa Oil Week | Dreg Waters Petroleum and LogisticsHe added that the transparency in governance and policies is at its peak in Nigeria which encourages massive yield in the return on investment. He noted that, “Presently we are looking at third party investment which allows for a competitive environment.”

Today’s sessions were quite explosive with a diverse information about the investment opportunities in the Africa oil and gas sector.
